Not only in parts od Nigeria, but all throughout Africa men “dress up” at during specific times of the year to pay homage, recognize, respect, inspire, create, praise, align and celebrate. Their elaborate textiles are not just for show, but for purpose. We give a head nod.

Brought to us again by Fashionisto, who gave honorable mention to India as a major influence for the collection. In addition, we’ve taken note of the African and 1960’s Black Panther vibe that these pieces give off as well.

We are interested in using masks (literally as utility and figuratively as print) and we are very interested in mask innovation. We have been researching how masks of different cultures have been used historically (like the ones posted above). We will keep you posted on our findings. . .
